I am... a Research Nurse

As a research nurse you are vital to the NIHR, the research that you deliver underpins everything that we do. You provide high quality patient care as well as dealing with data collection, follow-ups, patient groups and industry.

NIHR supports your work as a research nurse in a number of ways to help you develop your skills and further your career through research, such as Good Clinical Practice training.

The NIHR also provides a number of training and career development awards at varying levels for professionals who wish to develop their academic careers. There are a range of awards which are open to both medical and non-medical professions.

Ways you can promote the NIHR

We have developed a set of resources to help everyone funded by, supported by or working directly for the NIHR to promote the work we do. The resources are available here.

In addition, as a research nurse there are other things you can do which can collectively make a big contribution in raising awareness of the NIHR:
  • Tell your trial participants the study is funded or supported by the NIHR
  • If you are a nurse working in an NIHR Clinical Research Facility ask the research funder to include a link to your CRF when publicising the study or findings and tell us too so we can support the news with an item on the NIHR website email: comms@nihr-ccf.org.uk
  • Share NIHR news with your research team, colleagues and associates
  • Share your experiences with the NIHR clinical research nurse community:
    • Sign-up to CONNECT, our monthly newsletter which shares information and updates relating to our nursing strategy email: crncc.training@nihr.ac.uk
    • Keep in touch with the nursing community on Twitter using our hashtag #crnurse
